Capabilities
I am a Certified Labor Doula through Childbirth
and Postpartum Professionals Association (CAPPA). I have
over 59 hours of
continuing education conferences since May 2001. I have
three children on
my own, all born in Columbus. One is a hospital birth and the other
two were home births.
I am an active member of our local
networking group, Birth Workers
of Central Ohio. For more information about
my doula services, please see my Internet Interview.
Interested
in becoming a doula? I do train doulas through CAPPA.
- Labor Doula
- This service includes at least two prenatal appointments for education and writing a birth plan,
as well as, getting to know each other. I am on-call starting two weeks before your
due date up to your delivery. I will attend your
birth as a labor support person and stay up to two hours after you deliver
to help with breastfeeding and immediate postpartum issues. I also
provide one-two postpartum visits if you would like. I am available through out your
pregnancy by phone or e-mail for resources or information.
- Flat fee of $600 ($150 deposit included). I am open to bartering.
- Internet Doula
- I would be happy to correspond with you during your pregnancy and offer the same
resources and information that I offer my regular doula clients but through e-mail.
An excellent baby shower gift!
Flat fee of $20/month (i.e. starting at 12 weeks till due date is $120).
- Birth Plan Session
- This is a two and half hour session on options for childbirth, pros and cons for each
option, how to write a birth plan, and how to work with your care provider and hospital
staff concerning your birth plan.
Flat fee of $60.
- Sibling Doula
- It can be wonderful for a younger sibling to attend the birth of your baby. I
would be happy to meet with you and your child once a month starting at 25 weeks for
two hour to educate them and you. I would then be on-call the same as a Labor Doula
and would attend the birth with your child. I understand and support that some
children might be uncomfortable or that labor is so long that they need a break or to
leave. I am happy to do that. However, I do NOT offer on-call babysitting for
your child at your home while you go to the hospital. This service is only if you
want to provide your child with the opportunity to share in your birth experience.
Flat fee of $600 ($150 deposit included). I am open to bartering.
