Doulas are not a new concept, they were originally the head female servant of the household who helped the lady of the house through childbirth as far back as BC times. However, with the increased distance between family members Doulas are making an important comeback as an invaluable member of the birth team. In the past couple of years the term "doula" has expanded to include many different services. All of them encompass compassion and support by "mothering the mother."
Personal Profile
I am a member and Certified Labor Doula through Childbirth and Postpartum Professionals Association (CAPPA). I am a trained Moms In Motion Pre/Postnatal Exercise Instructor. I am a certified Operation Special Delivery Volunteer Doula. I am also a Certified Childbirth Educator and have the advanced training to be a Breastfeeding Support Specialist through Lamaze, International. I have over 59 hours of Continuing Education courses since May of 2001. These courses include birth, postpartum, teaching, lactation, the latest research and more. I do this work because I love it! I am committed to being there for both mom and dad during labor. It makes my job fun to see that bond that a couple shares after a positive birth experience. The best compliment by far I have received is to have previous clients ask me to be their doula after becoming pregnant again. "I am already planning on having Tamara for the birth of our next child." Find out what some of my clients have said about my services.
Great Gift IdeasInternet Doula, Comfort Measurers Class, Postpartum Doula, and more.
