Web sites I visit:

A listing of local childbirth professionals including midwives, doulas, childbirth educators, exercise instructors, lactation consultants, etc.

Great information about birth plans, options available and the benefits and risks of those options.  Lots of articles about birth.  Great resource for Christian couples too!

www.cappa.net  The national organization that I have certified through as a labor doula.  I am also the state rep for Ohio. Feel free to contact me with questions or to find a birth professional in Ohio!

www.lamaze.org  Not just breathing anymore!  Lamaze International has a focus on Evidence-based care!  Nice section of information for expectant parents.

www.childbirth.org

www.gentlebirth.com

  I'm listed at DoulaNetwork.com

www.operationspecialdelivery.com  I participate in this volunteer service to military wives.

Books I recommend:

The Thinking Woman's Guide to Childbirth by Henci Goer.  Very easy to read but full of practical statistics and evidence-based care.

Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn by Simkin.   A great alternative to What to Expect When...series.

The Christian Woman's Guide to Childbirth by Debra Evans.  Positive and easy to read general information on pregnancy, labor and delivery.

Working Mother, Nursing Mother by Gale Pryor.  Excellent resource on pumping and how to store and "serve" breast milk.

The Baby Book by Sears and Sears.  I had this out on the table my first child's whole first year!
