There are so many resources out there that educating yourself about pregnancy, labor,
and postpartum can be a daunting task. But is
this especially true for Dads! Expectant mothers generally read
books and magazine about childbirth and pregnancy. They will also watch
programs like a Baby Story on TLC. A new mother is inundated with
stories from other women (sometimes strangers) about pregnancy and childbirth.
What information does a new Dad get? His only source of information on Childbirth
might come from the Childbirth
Education class that mom signs them up for. It is because of this that I
have recently changed the format of my teaching to focus on the language and
learn styles that make dads feel more comfortable. I would be happy to share more about
how I am
doing this, contact me!
I am a member and Certified Childbirth Educator of Lamaze
International. I also have received the advanced training to become a
Breastfeeding Support Specialist. Lamaze has changed over the years; it's not all
about breathing exercises but about supporting and teaching evidence-based
care. Their web site has a great deal of resources for new parents! I have been teaching for three
years now and have over 144 hours of teaching experience. I have read and trained specifically so that
I can help you with this aspect of your preparations.
